Soul String Studio · How this works

The terms.
Clear, simple, and fair.

No long contracts. No buried clauses. You read this once, you know exactly what you're getting. Subscribing means you're happy with what's below.

The short version
  • You pay a flat monthly fee. I make you films. You own them.
  • One film in production at a time. Unlimited revisions on the edit. Around ten working days each.
  • Pause or cancel anytime. No contract to escape from.
  • The story, the score, and the final cut are mine. That's what makes it a Soul String film.
  • Everything else — the detail that protects us both — is below.
i

What you're paying for

Soul String Studio is a subscription. While your plan is active you get cinematic films made to the spec of your tier — The Single, The Feature, or The Residency — delivered finished and ready to use. The Pilot is a single film with no subscription, paid once.

Each film is an original piece of work: shot, scored, graded, and cut by me. You're paying for the craft and the turnaround, not for hours on a timesheet.

ii

How the work flows

You brief a film in writing — a paragraph is plenty. I work one film at a time; if you've several in mind, they queue and I move through them in order. Most films take around ten working days from brief to delivery, depending on complexity and how quickly feedback comes back.

No standing meetings. If a call helps, we have one. Otherwise the whole thing runs in writing, on your schedule and mine.

iii

Revisions — and the one limit that matters

Revisions on the edit are unlimited until you're happy: the cut, the pacing, the grade, the music, the text on screen. Tell me what isn't landing and I'll keep working it.

A re-shoot is different. Once footage is captured, I can shape it endlessly — but I can't re-cut something that was never filmed. If you want a new scene shot, a different angle captured, or the concept changed after the shoot, that's a new film, not a revision.

iv

Creative control

This is the heart of it. The narrative, the score, the grade, and the final cut stay with Soul String. You bring the brief, the product, and your approval at the agreed points. The storytelling decisions are mine.

That isn't me being precious — it's the entire reason the film is worth what it's worth. The day someone else directs the story, it stops being a Soul String film and becomes something anyone with a camera could make.

v

Who plays the guitar

By default, I play. The playing is part of the signature.

You're welcome to bring your own artist or endorsee — that's normal, and it's still a Soul String film, provided I keep creative control of the camera, the story, and the cut. The hands can change; the filmmaker can't.

If what you want is for me to simply operate a camera while you direct your own player, edit, and story, that's fair work — but it isn't a Soul String film. It's quoted separately as flat production-only work, at a different rate, and it doesn't carry the Soul String name.

vi

What isn't included

To keep things honest about scope: Soul String Studio does not produce straight spec-sheet demos or product walkthroughs — that isn't the work. The following also sit outside the monthly fee and are quoted separately when needed: travel beyond Greater London, session musicians' or actors' fees, physical product shipping and insurance, paid-advertising or social management, and raw footage or project files (see clause viii).

vii

Ownership of the finished film

Once the film is paid for in full, it's yours — to use however and wherever you like, for as long as you like. No usage windows, no renewal fees.

I keep two things. First, the right to show the finished film in my portfolio, showreel, and behind-the-scenes — never before your release date, and always crediting you. Second, ownership of the raw footage and project files, which aren't part of the deliverable (see below). All music in your film is original and cleared for your use within it.

viii

Raw footage & project files

The deliverable is the finished film and its cuts — not the raw footage, the project file, or the stems. Those stay with the studio. If you want them, they're available as a one-off buyout; just ask and I'll price it.

ix

Unreleased gear & confidentiality

If you're trusting me with a product that hasn't launched, I treat it as confidential. I publish nothing — not the film, not a frame of behind-the-scenes — before your release date or without your go-ahead. A formal NDA is fine too; send it over and I'll sign it.

x

Your part

For the work to move, I need a few things from you: the guitar or product (you cover shipping and insurance both ways), a clear brief, your brand assets where relevant, and timely feedback at the agreed points.

If feedback or materials are slow coming back, the timeline moves with them — fairçs fair.

xi

Care of your instrument

Any instrument in my care is handled like my own, and your instrument is insured. It comes back in the condition it arrived.

xii

Billing

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance on your start date and recur until you pause or cancel. The Pilot is paid in full before work begins. Prices are in GBP and exclusive of any applicable tax.

xiii

Pause & cancel

Pause anytime. If you pause mid-cycle, any unused days are banked and waiting when you come back. Cancel anytime — there's no contract holding you.

The one fair exception: once a film is actively in production, that month isn't refundable, because the work is already underway and bespoke to you.

xiv

Liability, changes & law

I carry appropriate insurance, and my total liability to you is limited to the fees you've paid me. These terms and the prices may change in future with reasonable notice; if you're already a client, your current cycle is honoured at the rate you signed up on.

This agreement is governed by the laws of England & Wales.

That's everything

No fine print hiding under the fold. If something here isn't clear, ask me before you sign up — I'd rather answer the question than have you guess. When you're ready, start a film.
